2026 Art In the Open Call for Proposals
The San Antonio River Foundation (SARF) seeks proposals from visual artists, collectives, and collaborations for the 2026 Art In the Open program. Art In the Open is designed to support artists with new exhibition or performance opportunities in outdoor or natural environments while providing vibrant art experiences to the San Antonio River community and its visitors. Proposals may include designing and installing site-specific and temporary or ephemeral artworks, installations, or performance(s)*.
Approximately 5-7 applications will be selected for the Art In the Open program occurring in the spring (Feb-Apr), summer (May-Jul), and fall (Aug-Nov). Selected proposals will be fully or partially funded; artists will receive $1,000-$2,500.00 towards the production of their project including artist fees, equipment, materials and supplies, installation, professional services, etc., and SARF will work closely with artists on the planning and execution along the way. Successful proposals will speak to SARF’s mission to preserve, enhance, and transform the San Antonio River Basin as a vibrant cultural, educational, ecological, and recreational experience; relate to SARF’s pillars including Culture, Ecology, Education, and Recreation; and or support our vision to inspire stewardship for the San Antonio River and the ecology it supports.
Applications will be accepted January 15 till February 15, 2026 at 5:00pm.
