Holy Agave Spirits! It’s the Batman of Mexico!

Join PhD Rodrigo Medellín under the eaves of Confluence Park as the renowned conservationist explains the connections between the food we eat, the mezcal and tequila we drink, and the bats that make it all possible.

Medellín, known as the Bat Man of Mexico and the subject of a one-hour BBC documentary narrated by David Attenborough, will enlighten the crowd on bats.

Bonus: a taste of agave-inspired food and beverages by our friends Elizabeth Johnson of Pharm Table and Houston Eaves of the Esquire Tavern, who will provide insights about how bats make these consumables possible. Food and drink available.
Space will be limited.

Underwritten by the San Antonio River Authority, the San Antonio River Foundation, UNAM and the Texas Butterfly Ranch.

Your Generosity Has Changed Your World

Since 2003, our Foundation has privately raised and reinvested over $43 million dollars in enhancing your San Antonio River experience. Our project partners —the San Antonio River Authority, Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, and the US Army Corps of Engineers — have invested over $789 million in river improvements for our community. Together, our investments have added over $3.6 billion in economic impact through adjacent private investment and development.
