Estela Avery, Executive Director

Estela Avery is a devoted philanthropist, dedicated volunteer and fundraiser for over 15 years. Her experience in working with non-profit organizations ranges from being a board member to heading capital campaigns, working with volunteers on different committees and chairing very successful special events.

A registered nurse by training, Estela acquired her management skills and attention to detail in various hospital settings. She left nursing to become a full time Mom and finish raising her family but her love to help others only grew and with time she decided to get heavily involved in three different communities, Kerrville, Fredericksburg and San Antonio.

In addition to her position as Executive Director of the San Antonio River Foundation, she just finished a long tenure as chair and member of the Providence Catholic School board. She continues to serve on the KLRN board, Schreiner University Advisory Board for the BSN Program, School of Nursing UT Health Science Center Advisory Board and CSU Advisory Board In Kerrville. She is also the working chair for the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Gala in Fredericksburg.

Over the years, Estela has donated her time and treasurers to the Needs Council, the Salvation Army clinic as a volunteer nurse, the Good Samaritan Clinic in Fredericksburg as a board member and volunteer nurse and on the hospital board for Peterson Regional Hospital. She also served on the Catholic Community Foundation of San Antonio, the San Antonio Library Advisory board and helped raised money for the MD Anderson Children’s Art Project. Estela also served on the Parent’s Council at the University of the South where she helped raised money during parent’s weekend on the mountain for several years. She and her husband were also members of the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club.

Estela and her husband Jim, the Founder of James Avery Craftsman, divide their time between their homes in San Antonio and Fredericksburg.
