Economic Benefits

Revitalize and Rejuvenate

San Antonio’s new 15-mile linear river park will stimulate job growth, increase real estate values, encourage new development and rejuvenation of existing properties, and increase the tax base for the City, County and local schools.

Jobs

The range of economic activity expected within the SARIP will have significant impact on the region’s economy, while supporting almost 10,000 new jobs that will be created at completion of the project (not including the thousands of jobs that will be created during the construction phase of the project).

Development

Through the new land uses, including residential, office, retail, hospitality and entertainment, serving existing residents, those relocating to the area, and tourists, underlying property values will be maximized.

Tax Base

The SARIP should add significantly to the area’s tax base. When the effects of increased economic activity through the community are considered, the total annual tax impact to the City of San Antonio should exceed $12.5 million.

Employer and Workforce Development

Functional and aesthetic improvements to the 13-mile river extension will attract local and national companies considering San Antonio for their corporate headquarters. This is especially true in the Mission Reach given the large parcels of land available there. Existing businesses will have new power to attract and compete to keep top talent.
