Redesigned River Foundation Website Provides a Central Online Reference for River Project Progress
(February 6, 2008) SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio River Foundation today unveiled a fully revamped website, complete with photos, detailed project plans, timelines and observations from project stakeholders. The website enhancements provide much more detail on the River Foundation’s contributions and role in the San Antonio River Improvements Project (SARIP).
“The River Foundation is growing very quickly and gaining a lot of momentum,” said Edward “Sonny” Collins, III, San Antonio River Foundation board president. “We wanted to make it easy for the community to find out what’s going on with the River Foundation and with the San Antonio River Foundation Project (SARIP).”
Catherine Nixon Cooke, Executive Director of the River Foundation, agrees. “The new website infrastructure allows us to add features to better support fundraising efforts and public outreach. There are some wonderful in-depth web articles and content available on our site as well as others, including the San Antonio River Authority’s website and the San Antonio Express-News website. Our board asked us to provide a central reference point for all this information.”
The San Antonio River Foundation is responsible for providing the San Antonio River Improvements Project (SARIP) with the unique cultural, aesthetic, and recreational character that will make it a truly exceptional community gem unlike any other city park in the nation. While public entities such as Bexar County, the city and the San Antonio River Authority will fund the basic infrastructure improvements, the Foundation will fund the amenities such as public art, parks, bike paths, historic elements and other attractions that will make the 13-mile linear park a recreational and cultural oasis for citizens and visitors alike.
“It is exciting to be involved in something with such lasting positive impact,” said Brad Ipema, Senior Vice President, E-Commerce & Marketing Counsel at USAA, and the River Foundation board member who spearheaded the new website design. “This is just the first of many innovations for the website, and a great way for the community to learn about this historic project.”
The San Antonio River Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization that works to secure community involvement and financial resources to enhance the natural beauty, recreational use and public appreciation of the San Antonio River. Since its inception in 2003, the San Antonio River Foundation has been actively involved in the San Antonio River Improvements Project, a multi-year plan to restore and enhance 13 miles of the San Antonio River both north and south of downtown.
