Downtown Alliance's "Best of the Decade" Award presented to San Antonio River Foundation for their Museum Reach contributions

River Foundation also recognized for "Best Public/Private Partnership" Award

Winners making a big impact in San Antonio's downtown area were announced on April 9, 2010, at the 10th Annual Downtown's BEST Awards Luncheon at the Westin Riverwalk presented by the Downtown Alliance.

San Antonio's Downtown Alliance presented the San Antonio River Foundation with their "Best of the Decade" Award for the San Antonio River Foundation's work to raise awareness and funds for the River Improvements Project. The Downtown Alliance initiated this first-ever award to celebrate their 10th anniversary and to recognize a project that has had meaningful and profound influence to the downtown area. Moreover, this award was voted on during the luncheon by the approximately 1,000 people that attended the awards ceremony.

The San Antonio River Foundation had serious competition for this award, which included Blue Star Arts Complex and Fiesta San Antonio, two organizations that have a legacy in the city.

The second award the River Foundation received was the "Best Public/Private Partnership" Award for the River Improvements Project/Museum Reach-Urban Segment in cooperation with the San Antonio River Authority, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and the San Antonio River Oversight Committee. The Downtown Alliance noted that this new stretch of the River Walk will serve as a catalyst for significant new urban development and enhances downtown immeasurably.

"We couldn't be more pleased to receive such high recognition and praise for our work along the Museum Reach," said Kim Abernethy, executive director of the San Antonio River Foundation. "Our success is a direct result of the amazing corporate support of San Antonio and the generosity of our donors and volunteers," continued Abernethy.
