Weldon W. Hammond, Jr.

Weldon Hammond, Ph.D., P.G. has more than 35 years of experience in water resource studies in the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and South America. He is the Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology Director at UTSA's Center for Water Research and holds the Amy and V.K. McNutt Distinguished Professorship in Hydrogeology at the Department of Geological Sciences at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Weldon teaches courses in the fields of hydrology and engineering geology and focuses his research on the use of isotopes in hydrologic studies, ground-water resource development in third world countries and water resource management systems. He received his Ph.D. in Geology from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Professional Geologist.

Weldon is the Chairman of the Environmental Committee for the San Antonio River Foundation. In addition, he serves on the San Antonio Water System Citizen's Advisory Panel, SAWS Blue Ribbon Panel on Recycled Water Usage, City of San Antonio Scientific Evaluation Team for Acquisition of Land over the Edwards Recharge Zone, Mayor's Select Panel on Water Quality over the Edwards Recharge Zone, Texas Senate Special Committee on Water Quality and the Edwards Aquifer, the Texas Development Board's Statewide Ground Water Modeling Committee and the Edwards Aquifer Authority Special Committee on Water Quality. He has also served as a Reviewer for the Hydrology Section of the National Science Foundation and for the Association of Engineering Geologists.
