Stuart Allen

Stuart Allen is a visual artist whose work deals with fundamental elements of perception such as light, time, gravity and space.  His photographs, sculptures and installations have been shown throughout the U.S. and abroad and his work is found in many private and public collections including: UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, the Tokyo Kite Museum, the Harry Ranson Center Photography Collection, the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, and U.S. Embassy collections in Canada, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Georgia.

Beyond the studio, Allen has worked with many non-profit art and education organizations as both administrator and board member.  He directed the Davis Art Center Gallery in Davis, CA from 1995-2003, was president of the Yolo County Arts Council Board (Woodland, CA) from 2001-2003, and has served on the Seattle-based Drachen Foundation board since 1996.

Allen studied architecture at Kansas University and graduated from the photography and video department of the Kansas City Art Institute in 1993.  He lives in San antonio, Texas with his wife Kelly Lyons and their children Aidan and Vincent.
