Michael Austin

Michael Austin graduated from Highlands High School in 1969 and attended The University of Texas at Austin on an academic scholarship, receiving a BBA in 1974. The San Antonio native currently serves as President and CEO of Capital Partners Financial Group USA, Inc. which he founded in 1997. The company engages in developing and financing physician-owned healthcare and related facilities and to date, has provided financing in excess of $100 million.
Capital Partners is presently in partnership with physicians for the development of Humble Surgical Hospital, scheduled to open in the spring of 2010 serving patients in northeast Houston.
While attending The University of Texas, Mike supported himself by working at American National Bank, prompting his interest in the financial industry. After completing his education, he began his career with an officer position at American National Bank, and subsequently served as Vice President of Parkdale-Frost Bank in Corpus Christi.
Beginning in 1980, Mike pursued a career in investment banking with Lehman Brothers, Kuhn, Loeb in Dallas before returning to San Antonio in 1984 as Senior Vice President of Texas Bank. In 1986 he was promoted to President and CEO of Texas Bank North, N.A. and Secretary of Texas Bancshares, Inc. culminating with a successful sale of the holding company in 1990.
Prior to founding Capital Partners, Mike worked as an independent consultant assisting healthcare companies and physicians in obtaining equipment and project financing. He is married to Raquel "Kell" G. Austin of Laredo, Texas. They have three daughters and five grandchildren. Mike, Kell and their youngest daughter, Catherine, founded Run Wild Sports in 2008, a retail store specializing in running/athletic shoes and apparel located at the historic Pearl Brewery.
Mike is an avid runner and he and his wife are certified Advanced Open Water scuba divers.
