Mr. Andrew Borrego is an attorney licensed to practice in Texas and New York and founding member of The Borrego Firm, PLLC, a San Antonio-based law firm. Mr. Borrego practices in the areas of Business Transactions, Entertainment and Sports Law, Criminal Defense, and Litigation. Mr. Borrego was recently named by his Texas Peers as a 2011 Texas Rising Star in the area of Entertainment and Sports Law, a distinction given to only 2.5 percent of Texas attorneys.
Mr. Borrego has negotiated numerous multimillion-dollar business transactions for clients in a variety of business industries and has represented clients in various criminal and civil litigation matters. In the area of entertainment and sports, Mr. Borrego represents Grammy award winning music producers and recording artists. He has negotiated multi-million dollar recording and distribution agreements on behalf of national and international recording artists with major record labels such as Warner Music Group/Asylum Records, Universal Music Group/Fontana Music, and Universal Music Group/Fonovisa. Mr. Borrego has also represented a former NBA first round draft pick, an on-air television personality, and various entertainment related business entities.
In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Borrego also serves as an adjunct professor at Trinity University where he teaches Sport Finance, Sports Law, and Ethics and assisted the university in establishing a Sport Management Minor. Mr. Borrego is also an expert witness in the music industry, having served as an expert witness in a copyright ownership and valuation case relating to the popular 70's funk band "Ohio Players" music catalog.
Mr. Borrego also serves on the board of Music in the Schools.
Mr. Borrego received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his JD from St. Mary’s University School of Law.
